Breastfeeding and the advantages
Back to my first weeks of breastfeeding!
I felt pretty low after giving birth. I lost a lot of blood while delivery and had a blood transfusion after. That made me very weak for about 5 weeks. But breastfeeding did one more thing to me and does to everyone: it releases hormones in your brain that make you feel good! Like a drug! Everytime he latched on I felt happy and cared about nothing else.
Since I was lying down a lot, Lorcan slept most of the time just on my tummy :) he gave me strength and I gave him security.
One thing I hear is "oh the poor dad" but hey ! Come on! They don't have boobs and there are many other jobs they can do and many other ways to bond than to give bottles!!!
They can change their nappies (which is a brilliant time for tickles, stories, laughing, massaging and cuddling) they can bath them, change them, go out for walks and surely the baby can sleep on their tummy listening to their heartbeat (which Lorcan loved too)
No don't tell me that they HAVE to bottle feed for bonding!
Now I could in the hole world not imagine having to get up every night, go into the kitchen to prepare a bottle several times a night! Thank god I didn't have to and neither did my husband! He got the most out of it by not having to get up every night ;) sometimes to change a nappy of corse!
I read somewhere that breastfeeding moms get an average of 45min more sleep every night because of that and now tell me how much that is in two weeks? Or a month? It's a lot more sleep ;)
"Breastfed baby's wake more and drink more at night"
Yes do you know why? Because the milk is richer at night! They are some clever creatures ;) I guess that's why my baby was a little chubby baby :) all my natural cream hehe
"Breastfed babies tend to wake more during the first few years of life" this again I don't believe in!
It's natural for ALL babies to wake up many times same as we do as adults! The difference is that we turn around or look at the clock and just fall back asleep. Babies and toddlers don't - they look for us- they want to sleep with momie and daddy! Surely :) we sleep with our partners too and don't like to sleep alone. Why would they want that? All alone in a dark room and cold bed. next to mom or dad is a natural security that gives them trust and health. most babies who co- sleep , sleep through the night early too! They wake, see that we are there and go back to sleep.
It's all about what we want as parents.
