CIO? or Cry It Out? To let your baby cry?

"Let your baby cry - it's good for the lungs"

Another myth I have overheard a few times.

Letting a baby cry is one of the worst things I can imagine. The only communication the baby has in the first few month - to let you know that something is wrong - is by crying! How else can it tell you?
It might be hungry. To hot, to cold. Maybe it has a full nappie? Maybe the tummy is sore or maybe it's just crying for your cuddles and does not want to be where it is! (Which could be on it's own on the floor or cot etc. )

There are soo many reasons but I am sure about one thing - to let a baby cry is terrible.
It distresses the baby and the mother. Blood flows into the brain and with excessive cries it can even destroy and damage parts in the brain. Maybe long term which nowadays / with new studies shows as depression and other psychological illnesses or weaknesses later in life. Maybe as teenagers or even later. Why? Because they have never learned that they can trust someone. When they cried as babies and no one came at the time their network was shaped (the first 3 years of life)- that stays forever.
When they as babies cried for help - and no one came.. Now it's basically the same but for different reasons.
They show problems.

The blood presure in the brain of a crying baby (crying until exhaustion) does a lot of damages - think about it.
A baby always cries for a reason.
Even if it is to be held. It's the only way of telling us. But then that's what the baby needs! It has only us to rely on.

Everyone their own and I would never judge any mother of their decisions but here are my views and why I think the way I do.

Hold your baby and Love it unconditionally :)
